Can Kate Moss convince Cheryl Cole to launch a Topshop range?

Tongues are wagging over the prospect of a Cheryl Cole Topshop range. The X Factor judge is reportedly being considered by the retailer for her own line next year. According to News of the World, the 25-year-old has been discussing the idea with Kate Moss, who has become a regular to the X Factor set (above, right). The supermodel is now said to be negotiating with Sir Philip Green on Cole's behalf. Perhaps that's why the pair of them were looking so chipper recently?

"Cheryl and Kate instantly hit it off. They were both gushing about each other all night," a source revealed. "When Cheryl said she wanted to get into high street fashion, Kate got very, very animated. It's very likely to happen next year."

With a lucrative spot on the X Factor panel, Cole's star is definitely on the rise right now. She is also due to appear on the January '09 cover of British Vogue, a real coup for any celebrity, despite rumours that she stormed off the shoot because of a run-in with stylist, Bay Garnett.

"Together they could make an amazingly diverse range," the source addded.
Yeah, yeah we've heard all this before, whispers of stars doing high street collections, and never following through. So why do I get the feeling that this one might actually have some truth to it? Perhaps because Cheryl is one hot ticket right now. I turn the mic over to you...

Time to speak up! What do you honestly think of this idea? Would Cheryl make a good Topshop celeb designer? Let us know.

Kate Moss Tops Glamour Magazine’s Best-Dressed List

Kate Moss is back at the top of Glamour magazine’s annual best-dressed women list.

“Kate’s back with a vengeance,” Jo Elvin, editor of Glamour, told Reuters. “Her maverick approach to fashion is an inspiration and shows us all how to be a little more daring and experimental.”

The British supermodel bested 2007’s best dressed, Aussie pop star, Kylie Minogue, who took a fashion nose-dive, tumbling all the way down to 19th.

Following Moss in second place, is fellow Brit, Sienna Miller, followed by Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Bilson and Jennifer Aniston, who rounded out the top five coming in third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.

On the worst-dressed side, pop princess, and recent sitcom starlet, Britney Spears took home the not-so-distinguished honors. In a case of fans loving and hating a celeb’s fashion choices, Victoria Beckham was voted ninth worst dressed, but also named tenth best dressed.

Glamour magazine’s top 10 best-dressed:

1 - Kate Moss
2 - Sienna Miller
3 - Scarlett Johansson
4 - Rachel Bilson
5 - Jennifer Aniston
6 - Alexa Chung
7 - Reese Witherspoon
8 - Jessica Alba
9 - Keira Knightley
10 - Victoria Beckham

Make like Kate Moss with a paparazzi playset

If you fancy yourself as a darling of the tabloids, hounded by the paparazzi at every turn, followed out of Starbucks and chased in your car for lucrative pictures but the reality is more mundane then carry out your strange fantasies with a paparazzi playset.

The set is $15.99 from Perpetual Kid and features nine eager paparazzi and a cardboard velvet rope to keep them away. It's a perfect gift for a faa-aahbulous workmate to decorate their cubicle with, I wonder if Kate Moss has a set stalking her kitchen windowsill?

Rimmel isn't axing Kate Moss

It seems that Rimmel is sticking with Kate Moss, despite reports that they were planning to axe her for Alexa Chung. The cosmetics company has issued a statement, denying any plans to end Moss's contract.

"Kate remains the face of Rimmel London and will continue to appear in campaigns for the foreseeable future," said Rimmel spokeswoman Emmanuelle Bonte. "Rimmel London has no plans to replace Kate. We are very happy with the collaboration."

The Mirror reported last Friday that the supermodel would shortly be replaced by TV personality Alexa Chung. According to the article, Chung "wowed bosses in secret screen tests" which were also held for Agyness Deyn, Daisy Lowe and Lily Cole.

Sources revealed that Chung had made it onto shortlist, along with St Trinians star Gemma Arterton.

Despite denying such plans, Rimmel had previously considered terminating Moss's contract in 2005, when she was busted using cocaine.

Interestingly, Rimmel have declined to comment on whether Alexa Chung will soon be joining their camp.

Why we love Kate Moss..?

If asked “Which model can successfully take you through the ages of fashion without fading?” one would hopefully answer “Kate Moss.”

I mean, as if anyone would ask that question - but when I think about it, she’s the only model who can transform from season-to-season and year-to-year without being left behind and replaced with someone new, i.e. Janice Dickinson.

And Kate Moss is featuring on the cover of Vogue’s coming March issue, making it her 25th Vogue cover.

French Vogue Feb '08 issue: stars Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse...?

The latest issue of French Vogue sees two of our favourite supermodels, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, reunited for the cover. But that isn't what has really sparked our interest... It's the mag's editorial shoot featuring model Isabeli Fontana as Amy Winehouse (complete with former bee-hive) that has tickled our fancy. With Karl Lagerfeld recently declaring the troubled singer inspiration for his pre-fall show ("she is the dark Brigitte Bardot), I'm wondering - how much influence does Wino actually have on the fashion biz these days. Or has she done her dash now that she's sans beehive?

Caught! Paparazzi sneaks into Kate Moss's new house

Hang on a minute... this isn't on! A photographer scaled a roof this afternoon and climbed into a window of Kate Moss's new home while her belongings were being moved in. The cheeky paparazzo clambered onto the low roof of the model's new St John's Wood pad, before slipping into an open window to presumably take a few shots inside. Meanwhile, Moss was being snapped leaving mate Davinia Taylor's house (pictured, insert), where she has been temporarily staying, unaware of all the commotion going on at her new residence. Can anyone say 'break and enter'?

Kate Moss's boot obsession becomes addictive!

As if it wasn't bad enough that we have to see Kate wear those over-the-knee boots everyday, now Stella McCartney has got in on the act too!

Kate and Stella are shown leaving Kate's house to go for lunch together, and not only are they wearing similar tight black boots, they're oversized black coats are identical as well.

Stella teamed hers with black leggings and a black button up sweater, whilst Kate teamed hers with an oversized clutch and her favourite jeans.

Well, what else did you expect?

Kate isn't exactly famed for her varied wardrobe choices, but this boot obsession is getting beyond a joke. Here's hoping after lunch Stella takes her shoe shopping, eh?

Kate Moss arrives in New York, wears something slightly different

So here's Kate Moss's latest airport style. Granted, it's not that different from her previous airport style. But as we know, any minor Kate Moss style change must be covered, so here I am, reporting to you from the fashion front line.

And today, that fashion front line is situated in New York*. Because this is what Kate looked like as she landed at JFK airport yesterday.
The jeans and "those" boots are familiar, of course - but yes, Kate has done it again, and worn something ever-so-similar-yet-ever-so-slightly-different from something which she's already been seen out in. Namely: that grey and black striped top, and that black hoody.

Kate Moss longs for the X-Factor

Kate Moss has a new love – and no, it's not yet another floppy-haired, scruffy rocker. It's Mr Nasty himself, Simon Cowell!
Yep, Kate's apparently so addicted to the show that she never misses an episode, and has even been holding X Factor-style parties at her home in the Cotswolds.

Mates like actress(ahem)-come-designer Sadie Frost and Kate's mum and daughter (wonder if Pete Doherty ever joined in while he was around?) are rumoured to take it in turns belting out tunes, which Kate then judges à la Mr Cowell. We've heard her impressions are spot on - and let's face it, she's already got the high-waisted trousers - how hard could it be?

Swarovski Fashion Rocks: Kate, Coleen and the babes in black

The more pictures I see of Kate Moss's new hair, the more tempted I am to go running to the hairdressers with a pic squealing 'make me look exactly like this'. There's no denying Kate can work the red carpet. With smoky eyes, a fringed silver dress, a cute clutch and Louboutin Mary-Janes she was the epitome of laid-back cool at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks for the Princes Trust event last night. Also turning on the glam was Coleen McLoughlin. I never thought a footballer's girlfriend would make it onto my best-dressed list, but in her sequinned column dress she looked perfect. I might have added a good bra, but the swept back hair, simple jewellery and black clutch are just subtle enough to show off the sparkle of the dress. That's one nil to the WAGs!
See over the cut for the best LBD's of the night...

The coolest celeb & designer team of the night had to be Roisin Murphy and the absolutely beautiful Frida Gianinni for Gucci. Roisin went for a retro maxi dress with a jacket and dirty gold accessories, while Frida showed off legs that's make La Moss jealous in a one-shoulder mini.
Teeny 'Clothes Show' presenter Louise Redknapp and statuesque model Yasmin Le Bon buddied up for photos in their contrasting LBDs. While Lou went for dramatic volume with her 80s-inspired puffy strapless mini (and swarovski studded clutch, natch) Yasmin went for something more simple in shape but sparklier in embellishment. Which do you prefer?

Kate Moss Fashion Rocks dress is going to auction for charity

Kate Moss is working hard to get back in to everybody's good books this week. Her new fringe in winning her lots of brownie points (particularly with Fashion ed Gemma), her new boyf is slightly more respectable that Pete, her Topshop Christmas range actually looks good and she wore an amazing flapper dress to the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event! The dress she wore to the Royal Albert Hall was designed with the Topshop team. It is estimated that the dress would cost £40,000 as it is made from 60,000 crystal beads.

Moss explained to Hilary Alexander, “The period has been a major inspiration for my autumn/winter designs for Topshop and just felt perfect. Also it was like a dream to use such an amazing amount of crystal. I’m honoured to have the opportunity to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust, as it’s a great cause. Plus, I get to wear my own amazing couture dress, even if it’s just for the night.” The auction is on eBay and at time of writing the dress has already attracted bids of over £1,000. By the time you read this, that'll probably have gone up dramatically...

Uma Thurman and Kate Moss at Swarovski Fashion Rocks in London

On October 18th at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the international glitterati of the fashion and film worlds convened for the Swarovski Fashion Rocks gala.

The charity was co-hosted by Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson. Works from major designers were shown along with performances from heavy-hitters in the music world including Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. The jewelry being worn by the celebs has been made available online.

Hollywood Stunner
Uma Thurman is no stranger to the red carpet, but the previous evening her attire stunned onlookers. Not so much with its’ color or design, but the skin show not normally associated with her. Thurman graced the show in a glimmering black Valentino couture gown and polished updo. It wasn’t too low-cut, but the fabric left almost nothing to the imagination. Somehow we never thought a prescription for lingerie would be necessary for the thirty-something looker, who, apart from tonight always radiates at black-tie nights. As to her motives for wearing it, perhaps she felt the need to prove she’s still beautiful, in which case, case closed!

Designer Kate
Kate Moss showed in a short-hemmed flapper frock, reminiscent of the 1920’s era. The dress was a replica of one she donned on her first night out with actor Johnny Depp in ’94 and is for auction by TopShop on Ebay, benefiting the Prince’s Trust. It retails for approximately 40,000 pounds sterling and is adorned with 20,000 hand-cut Swarovski crystals. The dress, Kate’s uber-blonde hair worn down and the black Mary Jane heels made for a glammed-up entrance.
Not to mention a big success for a noble cause. Well designed, Kate!

And finally... Kate Moss's Rimmel mascara ads banned for using fake lashes

What on earth is going on with TV viewers lately? First it was Penelope Cruz's L’Oréal mascara ads that had some viewers fired up over its use of fake eyelashes, and now Kate Moss's Rimmel ad is following suit.

Her ads for Rimmel's Magnif'eyes mascara have been banned after two viewers complained that they did not believe her lashes to be real, and that the ads exaggerated the effect of the product.

Hate to say it but... duh!

Celebs who dress us

Who do the wannabes wanna look like? Rachel Wells asks the experts which stars set trends and which stars ruin them.

Flick through the racks at a chain store and chances are you'll stumble across a pretty good knock-off of those denim shorts Kate Moss was wearing in Who last month, or that maxi dress Paris Hilton was sporting in Famous a couple of weeks back.

Dressing like our favourite celebrities has become a multimillion-dollar obsession thanks to our preoccupation with celebrity culture and a proliferation of fast-fashion stores and online boutiques that can be selling the latest look within weeks, if not days.

A survey by credit card company Virgin Money last year revealed that Australian women aged 18 to 34 spent $4.6 million, or almost $2000 each, annually to look like celebrities. As a result, chain stores are more likely to look to the streets of London or Los Angeles than the catwalks of Paris and Milan for their style inspiration.

"Chain stores watch celebrities like hawks," says Kerrie McCallum, editor of fashion tome Shop Til You Drop. "Any celebrity that is hot property is on their radar and the chain stores can turn around outfits inspired by that celebrity in a matter of weeks. That's what the customer wants."

McCallum says celebrities provide a more wearable interpretation of new fashion trends than the catwalk ever can.

"Catwalk is still very relevant to the fashion industry but, for the average woman, a celebrity shows them how to take that look to the street. They get hold of trends before we know about them, then they break them down into a look that can be worn on the street. So they are almost showing us how to wear the trends before anyone else," she says.

Sarah Rovis, general manager and head buyer at fast fashion chain Dotti, agrees.

"We do look to the celebrities and we also mix it with what we see on the streets...We travel a lot and hit the streets of London, LA, New York and Tokyo to see what the girls are wearing and how they are putting their outfits together," she says.

Given this demand for the celebrity look, it is not surprising that the days of chain stores delivering new stock only two to four times a year are long gone. Nowadays most fast fashion stores stock new clothes on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis.

It is also not surprising that we have seen a spate of so-called celebrity-designed fashion ranges in recent times - think Kate Moss for Topshop, Madonna for H&M, Lily Allen for British chain New Look and Milla Jovovich and fellow model Carmen Hawk for MNG. Not too mention a flood of celebrity collections including J Lo by Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce's House of Dereon, Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B., Jessica Simpson's Princy and JS by Jessica Simpson lines, Justin Timberlake's William Rast collection and most recently Twenty8Twelve by Sienna and Savannah Miller and Paris Hilton's new namesake label.

So it seems everyone wants to look like their favourite celebrity, but which of them most deserve their following?

According to McCallum, former OC star and Hollywood "It" girl Mischa Barton and style stalwart Kate Moss are leading the celebrity fashion charge, right now. Meanwhile, one-time style leader Sienna Miller - famous for putting boho on the fashion map - has lost her fashion mojo.

"Mischa Barton is the ideal. She's on trend, elegant, young and beautiful, not too scandalous but naughty enough to be interesting. She's a real clothes horse...and Kate Moss still has it...despite her grubby personal life, she has single-handedly influenced the world's perspective on fashion," she says.

In terms of up-and-coming style icons, McCallum says celebrity wannabes should keep their eye on actors Michelle Williams, Camille Belle and Kate Bosworth.

A quick scan of the ever-growing number of online stores devoted to celebrity fashion also offers a good idea of who's hot and who's not.

At As Seen on Screen's website asos.com, an online store that sells shameless copies of clothes recently worn by celebrities, the most searched stars include: Paris Hilton, who turns up close to 60 garments (from printed maxi dresses to drawstring jersey mini shorts); Kate Moss, who inspires more than 40 items, from high-waisted denim flares to raw-hemmed denim shorts; and the naughty LA starlet triumvirate of Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton. Sienna Miller, Kylie Minogue, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, Lily Allen and J Lo are also popular.

At famousfashionsfound.com, where you can buy the same clothes that the celebrities are wearing, and search via TV show, movie, "magazine must-have" or star, Lohan, Richie and Hilton all feature strongly, along with Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Rachel Bilson, Cameron Diaz, Eva Longoria, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Nicky Hilton, Hilary Duff and J Lo.

Rovis says celebrities on Dotti's radar include Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson, the Olsen twins, Lily Allen and Peaches Geldof (the daughter of Sir Bob Geldof and Paula Yates), who the company has just named as the face of its spring/summer campaign.

These stars appeal to young, fashion- and budget-conscious consumers because they don't dress in head-to-toe designer brands. "Our customers look to these A-listers for their ability to mix designer brands with chain-store bargains or vintage finds," says Rovis. "They love that these celebrities take risks and mix it up a bit."

The most enduring style setters are those who look as though they've spent all of five minutes and little money throwing together a look before rushing out the door.

Being a celebrity doesn't guarantee style status. There are some, like tabloid trainwrecks Britney Spears, Courtney Love and Amy Winehouse, for example, who most women wouldn't part with a single cent to look like. Then there are others who have a "style" completely beyond the reach of average consumers. Victoria Beckham is a classic example. She was recently dubbed a "fashion liability" by a British newspaper - whenever she is spotted in a certain look "she kills it stone-dead".

"The problem is her look is too contrived and so obviously over-styled that it looks like she has tried too hard," says McCallum. And she says there is another kind of celebrity who never makes it to fashion "It" girl status because they choose not to follow trends.

"Even though they're beautiful, people like Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie have more of a classic style," she says. "They don't slavishly follow trends so aren't necessarily as interesting when it comes to pap shots."

Kate Moss scents an end to her troubles

The imminent launch of her first perfume, Kate by Kate Moss, is a sign that the 33-year-old model has ridden out the scandals that looked set to destroy her career.

Moody pre-launch photographs shot in Marrakech show her in a field of wheat - a natural beauty far removed from the seedier side of life that once threatened to overpower her image.

In the past two years she has been accused of cocaine use and endured an on-off relationship with Pete Doherty, who is battling drug addiction. The couple recently split.

The cocaine scandal cost the lithe beauty some high-profile contracts including with Chanel, Burberry, H&M and jeweller H.Stern.

But, after a stint in rehab, her career revived. Earlier this year, her annual income was estimated to be $11.5 million.

In the past, Moss has lent her famous face to other perfumes - Anais Anais, Chanel Mademoiselle and Calvin Klein Obsession.

With the release of Kate by Kate Moss, through cosmetics giant Coty, she continues her move into the realm of the entrepreneur.

Kate Moss gets into perfume business

Putting her bitter break-up with Pete Doherty behind, Kate Moss is currently undergoing a huge transformation from a model to a business magnate, for she is all set to launch her first fragrance.
The perfume 'Kate by Kate Moss' is the result of a collaboration between Moss and perfume company Coty Inc.
"It's something I've thought of doing for a long time, but it just never felt right. It felt natural to take the next step," the Mirror quoted Moss, as telling Women's Wear Daily.
Describing the scent Kate said, "When I put it on I want to feel fresh and light and as the day goes on I want to feel sexier."
The 33-year-old style icon said that she is not simply the face of the product, but is taking on hands on role in the latest venture.
"I learned a lot about having to smell layers and picking out the scents. I don't think people generally smell a perfume and say, 'Oh, that bottom note!'"she said.
‘Kate by Kate Moss’ will be launched in Europe and Asia in September, and will reach the US next year.

Get a whiff of Kate Moss with her first fragrance

Just like Elle Macpherson, Helena Christensen and so many before her, Kate Moss is currently undergoing a huge transformation from model to business mogul. So far, it seems to be succeeding after the launch of her range for Topshop, but can Moss sustain this level of success? That is the question many in the industry are wondering after it was announced overnight that the supermodel is getting ready to launch her first fragrance.

'Kate by Kate Moss' is the creation between Moss and perfume company Coty Inc. "It's something I've thought of doing for a long time, but it just never felt right. It felt natural to take the step," Moss told WWD.

When asked to describe the scent, Moss replied: "When I put it on I want to feel fresh and light and as the day goes on I want to feel sexier."

Kate Moss dropped from Burberry campaigns

Supermodel Kate Moss has received another blow, for she has been dropped by Burberry from their latest advertising campaign in favor of younger British faces.

Upmarket fashion label Burberry originally dumped Moss following allegations of cocaine-snorting in September 2005, but became one of the first brands to rehire her last year.

But now Burberry bosses have revealed that their next campaign will feature models who are more than ten years younger than Kate, reports The Sun.

The cast of the new Burberry campaign, shot by Mario Testino, includes 21-year-old Agyness Deyn, and 20-year-old Lily Donaldson, who will both feature in a series of ads along with up-and-coming indie brands The View and The Paddingtons.

Kate makes 30million pounds from her contracts with trendy brands and her Burberry deal is believed to be worth around 1million pounds alone.

However, a Burberry spokesman insisted that Moss, who has featured in 11 of its past 15 campaigns, was “still part of the Burberry family”.

This news comes just days after saucy undies firm Agent Provocateur dumped Kate, also in favour of a younger face. The underwear company paid Moss 500,000 pounds last year but has decided not to renew her contract.
