John Galliano appointed a knight of the French Legion of Honour

One of my favourite designers, John Galliano, has kicked off 2009 in fine form by being awarded the Légion d'Honneur (French Legion of Honour).

The British-born creative director of Christian Dior has been appointed a chevalier (knight) in France's highest Order.

He joins fellow designer,
Giorgio Armani, who was made an officeir (officer) of the French Legion of Honour. Armani recieved the award from French President Nicolas Sarkozy during Paris Couture Week back in July 2007.

While Sonia Rykiel, Azzedine Alaia, and the late Yves Saint Laurent have also been awarded similar honours in the past.
