Celebrities all don black for the Boss Black Spring 2008 collection show

Hugo Boss's Boss Black spring 2008 collection was unveiled yesterday in New York and the celebrities arrived dressed in, well, Boss Black. Kate Winslet, Kristin Davis, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Julianne Moore rocked Hugo Boss pieces, glowing in their chic outfits. Kate Winslet looked funky in her black embellished mini dress and short black boots, while Kristen Davis wore a white shirt and black a-line skirt outfit with the cutest black peep toe pumps with pink satin and gold detail. Maggie Gyllenhaal wore a simple black dress with cowl neck detail with suede ankle boots, and Julianne Moore wore a sleek black Boss suit with a delicate black camisole and accessorised with a sleek black clutch.

Ooops! Jamelia and Victoria 'rock' up to Swarovski Fashion Rocks in the the same frock!

It's a celeb's worst nightmare. You (or your management / record company / production company / rich partner) have spent a fortune getting your look absolutely perfect for one of the biggest nights in the social calendar. All your peers are flocking to the event and it's the perfect moment for you to shine. Then you turn round on the red carpet and spot another less credible 'sleb wearing the same frock as you. Poor old Jamelia...it happened to her last night at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event, when leggy blonde former Playboy Playmate of the Year Victoria Silverstedt turned up in the same corsted pink satin dress as her. I have just one question for you all. Who wore it best?

Swarovski Fashion Rocks: Kate, Coleen and the babes in black

The more pictures I see of Kate Moss's new hair, the more tempted I am to go running to the hairdressers with a pic squealing 'make me look exactly like this'. There's no denying Kate can work the red carpet. With smoky eyes, a fringed silver dress, a cute clutch and Louboutin Mary-Janes she was the epitome of laid-back cool at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks for the Princes Trust event last night. Also turning on the glam was Coleen McLoughlin. I never thought a footballer's girlfriend would make it onto my best-dressed list, but in her sequinned column dress she looked perfect. I might have added a good bra, but the swept back hair, simple jewellery and black clutch are just subtle enough to show off the sparkle of the dress. That's one nil to the WAGs!
See over the cut for the best LBD's of the night...

The coolest celeb & designer team of the night had to be Roisin Murphy and the absolutely beautiful Frida Gianinni for Gucci. Roisin went for a retro maxi dress with a jacket and dirty gold accessories, while Frida showed off legs that's make La Moss jealous in a one-shoulder mini.
Teeny 'Clothes Show' presenter Louise Redknapp and statuesque model Yasmin Le Bon buddied up for photos in their contrasting LBDs. While Lou went for dramatic volume with her 80s-inspired puffy strapless mini (and swarovski studded clutch, natch) Yasmin went for something more simple in shape but sparklier in embellishment. Which do you prefer?

Swarovski Fashion Rocks for the Princes Trust: Sparkle, Purple & Pink on Uma, Lily, Nicole, Lisa and co...

Unsurprisingly, purple was one of the key colour choices at Swarovski Fashion Rocks last night. Nicole 'Pussycat Dolls' Scherzinger was there to perform on behalf of Valentino, so she of course was dressed in the designer's own floor length purple gown, changing later into a shorter number in a similar shade to perform. Joely Richardson was there to lend her support to the to the Princes Trust in a more romantic take on the season's key colour. See below for more fashion from the front row...

Joss Stone, performing on the night for Calvin Klein, got flashbulbs popping in hot pink body-con, showing off a freakishly svelte figure. Please tell me she's not going the way of Amy Winehouse and co...? Lisa Snowdon meanwhile went for the opposite silhouette in her slouchy coral sequinned mini-shift. I'm not sure how I feel about this one, what do you guys reckon?

Show presenter Uma Thurman predictably wore a dress covered in Swarovski crystals. And as if all that sparkle wasn't enough, she added even more oomph by going for something see-through. Well, if I had that bod I would too. Lily Allen on the other hand, wore Chanel to sing and to walk the red carpet. Her organza gown is a tad mumsy, especially with that swept-up Audrey hair, but I think the red lippy and gorgeous patent clutch save it for her.

Kate Moss Fashion Rocks dress is going to auction for charity

Kate Moss is working hard to get back in to everybody's good books this week. Her new fringe in winning her lots of brownie points (particularly with Fashion ed Gemma), her new boyf is slightly more respectable that Pete, her Topshop Christmas range actually looks good and she wore an amazing flapper dress to the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event! The dress she wore to the Royal Albert Hall was designed with the Topshop team. It is estimated that the dress would cost £40,000 as it is made from 60,000 crystal beads.

Moss explained to Hilary Alexander, “The period has been a major inspiration for my autumn/winter designs for Topshop and just felt perfect. Also it was like a dream to use such an amazing amount of crystal. I’m honoured to have the opportunity to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust, as it’s a great cause. Plus, I get to wear my own amazing couture dress, even if it’s just for the night.” The auction is on eBay and at time of writing the dress has already attracted bids of over £1,000. By the time you read this, that'll probably have gone up dramatically...

Victoria Beckham ropes in Roberto Cavalli to design Spice Girls' reunion tour gowns

Victoria Beckham has roped in Italian designer, Roberto Cavalli to design 2 million pounds worth of slinky gowns for the Spice Girls' upcoming reunion world tour.

A source has revealed that the gowns created by the designer will be eye-catching and will make each of the Spice Girls stand out.

"The gowns will be stunning. They want to create a fabulous show and will certainly look the part in Roberto's creations," the Sun quoted the source, as saying.

"I would expect rhinestones to be dripping off the dresses so they will look spectacular with the lights sparkling off them. Cavalli is a fabulous designer - he will make each girl look sensational in their own way," the source said.

Posh, a long-time friend of the Italian designer sealed the deal after she flew from Los Angeles to be at the opening of Cavalli's new store in Paris.

Tom, Katie and Suri Cruise outside Photography Studio in NYC

A family is reunited after Tom Cruise and daughter Suri rejoin Katie in New York City.

TomKat, Suri and entourage made their arrival at the studio, complete with entourage. Tom first helped his daughter out of the car and then assisted Katie, before they finally entered the building as the security detail prevented paps from getting too close.

On the Move
Tom: V-neck sweater, white shirt, pants and jacket. I look smokin’. So what if my wife is a few years older than my other daughter.

Katie: With this olive/eggplant striped number and neutral backpack, I’m ready for the next semester of California Univ.

Suri: Cute as I am, I could give Shiloh a run for her money.
Ok, so maybe Katie’s outfit is connected to her film. But if it isn’t, it certainly does nothing for her efforts to shrink the age gap between her and hubby Tom.

Monica Bellucci at the Second Annual Rome Film Festival

Italian actress Monica Bellucci graced another A-list carpet at the Second Annual Rome Film Festival, where her recent film “Le Deuxieme Souffle” had its’ premiere.

The lady must have a thing for black, because not only did she wear black leggings for the recent cover of Italian Vanity Fair, she chose black suiting for the film’s photocall and the same color again for the premiere night.

Femme Fatale
Of course, the premiere was way more formal than the other two events, judging from the plunging neckline of her dress, the sheer wrap and triple tier of diamonds glittering above it. We’re willing to bet nobody noticed her choice of jewelry, gorgeous as it was. Judging from her singular color palette, either she’s playing it safe or it’s her favorite shade! Well worn, Monica!

Kate Bosworth is on a venture overseas, getting a bit of a fashion fix in Beijing, China, of all places.

The 24-year-old actress, who made the trip with the accompaniment of her model boyfriend James Rousseau, is in the Orient mecca for the Great Wall of China fashion show.

The pair joined designer Karl Lagerfeld for his latest Fendi exhibit, as a previous Los Angeles show of his included models arriving to the runway in a private jet.

Other guests on hand included Memoirs of a Geisha star Ziyi Zhang, Thandie Newton and Miss Universe Riyo Mori of Japan.

Uma Thurman and Kate Moss at Swarovski Fashion Rocks in London

On October 18th at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the international glitterati of the fashion and film worlds convened for the Swarovski Fashion Rocks gala.

The charity was co-hosted by Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson. Works from major designers were shown along with performances from heavy-hitters in the music world including Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. The jewelry being worn by the celebs has been made available online.

Hollywood Stunner
Uma Thurman is no stranger to the red carpet, but the previous evening her attire stunned onlookers. Not so much with its’ color or design, but the skin show not normally associated with her. Thurman graced the show in a glimmering black Valentino couture gown and polished updo. It wasn’t too low-cut, but the fabric left almost nothing to the imagination. Somehow we never thought a prescription for lingerie would be necessary for the thirty-something looker, who, apart from tonight always radiates at black-tie nights. As to her motives for wearing it, perhaps she felt the need to prove she’s still beautiful, in which case, case closed!

Designer Kate
Kate Moss showed in a short-hemmed flapper frock, reminiscent of the 1920’s era. The dress was a replica of one she donned on her first night out with actor Johnny Depp in ’94 and is for auction by TopShop on Ebay, benefiting the Prince’s Trust. It retails for approximately 40,000 pounds sterling and is adorned with 20,000 hand-cut Swarovski crystals. The dress, Kate’s uber-blonde hair worn down and the black Mary Jane heels made for a glammed-up entrance.
Not to mention a big success for a noble cause. Well designed, Kate!

Uma Thurman Goes Topless at Fashion Rocks

Actress UMA THURMAN stunned fans in London by showing up to the Swarowski Fashion Rocks event wearing a see-through gown - and no bra. The Pulp Fiction star's breasts could clearly be seen on the red carpet as she arrived at the event on Thursday night (18Oct07) in a sheer black dress. One bystander said, "I think Uma knew she what was showing and she seemed very proud to show it off."

Bosworth in Beijing with her Beau

Kate Bosworth and her beau, James Rousseau, made it to the Great Wall of China.

As I told ya yesterday, they were expected to be at the
Fendi fashion show, taking place at the Wall. It was the first-ever fashion show there, and it included a runway snaking down the mountains of the Guangou valley.

A showgoer just emailed me that when womenswear designer Karl Lagerfeld and accessories designer Silvia Fendi made their way onto the runway, the mountaintops lit up with Fendi logos.
Also attending were
Thandie Newton and Zhang Ziyi. There was a chill in the air, so the women were given embroidered black shawls, and all 500 guests received Fendi heated hand packs, according to my source.

Lagerfeld was also busy during the trip taking photographs for Chinese Vogue and all 19 international editions of Elle. Some of these fashion shoots took place in Beijing’s new $500 million Olympic Stadium built for the 2008 games, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Paris Fashion Week: Jean Paul Gaultier S/S '08 show

It was a swashbuckling adventure at yesterday's Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer '08 show with models including Lily Cole (above, middle) swaggering down the catwalk in Captain Jack Sparrow-inspired creations. Has the designer been watching a little too much Pirates of the Caribbean? I wouldn't blame him... it is Johnny Depp after all.
More pics after the cut...

The show opened with some pretty serious camouflage, appearing in everything from breeches to loose waist coats, to skirts, hats and bags. Everything seemed to be trussed and held together with large leather belts, corsets and primitive ties.

The first half of the show took on an early century adventurer feel with pirate-inspired wide brimmed hats, military jackets and colonial skirts. This was mixed with loads of sea-faring stripes and a distinctive edge towards tribal prints, a real clashing of colours and textures with the unmissable odd tutu here and there. There was simply too much to absorb all in one outfit - layering, my friends, is definitely not on the way out!

The final part of the show turned to the brides of the ships' captains in a parade of lace, netting and crochet. The smoking ban also appeared to be ignored with Gaultier as his early settler ladies delicately flaunted their long cigarettes held between lace fingerless gloves.

Gisele Bundchen pops down under to launch footwear range

In between her busy schedule, which includes being this month's cover girl for French Vogue, Gisele Bundchen managed to squeeze in a visit to Australia to launch her new Ipanema footwear range overnight. Proceeds from the shoe line will go towards preserving waterways in the Amazon Basin.

During her quick visit down under, she also found time to meet the animals at two of Melbourne's zoos. According to local newspapers, she also spent a considerable time holed up at a five-star hotel to watch her football star boyfriend, Tom Brady, play his NFL match on TV. Ain't love grand?

Frock Horror(s) of the Week: Jennifer Lopez's En Concierto outfits

I think Jennifer Lopez has some 'splaining to do! If anyone was in doubt that the saucy singer was pregnant then this may well confirm it, I mean what other excuse does she have for this parade of atrocious maternitywear?

The Latin diva performed at a concert over the weekend with hubby Marc Anthony in not one... not two... but three gaudy outfits, perhaps with the exception of the yellow tent dress (above, right). I must blame Roberto Cavalli, yet again!

Post a comment below and let us know what you think about this week's multiple Frock Horrors.

And finally... Kate Moss's Rimmel mascara ads banned for using fake lashes

What on earth is going on with TV viewers lately? First it was Penelope Cruz's L’Oréal mascara ads that had some viewers fired up over its use of fake eyelashes, and now Kate Moss's Rimmel ad is following suit.

Her ads for Rimmel's Magnif'eyes mascara have been banned after two viewers complained that they did not believe her lashes to be real, and that the ads exaggerated the effect of the product.

Hate to say it but... duh!

Paris Fashion Week: Valentino's final bow

In true Valentino style, that of a gentleman, the legendary Italian designer took his final bow at his last ready-to-wear show in Paris yesterday.

Valentino announced his retirement as head designer early last month, not long after celebrating his 45th anniversary with the fashion house.

Circled by a bevy of models, Valentino waved to the crowd amongst a sea of bows, ruffles, polka dots, floaty chiffon and skirt suits.
Keep reading for plenty more pics from the show...

Frocks, frocks and more frocks - doing what Valentino does best - appeared along the runway in all manners of colours, prints, fabrics and fabulous features. A wave of candy pink dresses opened the show, moving quickly onto yellow just in case you were feeling sleepy and needed a wake-me-up. Whether it be a shift, Galaxy-style dress, or an '80s bubblegum number there was no mistaking that a bright dress is essential for next spring/summer.

Even still, you can't forget that ever-important monochrome with black and white a prominent feature in polka dots and stripy shoes (very Giles Deacon-esque!) Reminiscent of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, Valentino's polka dots were strapped with gigantic bows. He also incorporated some pretty serious volume tailoring with Jackie O style skirt suits.

Red carpet gowns, a particular favourite among the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren, were echoed on the catwalk in floor sweeping elegance. My eye was especially drawn to a gorgeous fire red strapless gown with a giant fishtail (above, middle). A stunning way to end an illustrious prêt-à-porter career!

Paris Fashion Week: Karl Lagerfeld S/S '08

Well known as one of the busiest men in fashion (or possibly even in the world) Karl Lagerfeld not only works hard for Chanel but also designs for his own label. It was this label that he presented yesterday as part of Paris Fashion Week. On a disco catwalk, Lagerfeld created a largely monochrome line working with the new silhouette. The collection was very wearable and young with many 80s power dressing references.

Nearly all of the outfits were styled with waist clincher belts and the focus was very much upon the shoulder area. Attention was drawn with cut out detail (as seen above, left) and through use of colour (right). There were also wide shouldered blazers which were reminiscent of 1940's Dior's 'New Look'.

There was a lot of layering within the collection, including a midi length black prom dress worn over black skinny trousers and black chiffon loosely draped over a mini dress.

The skirts came in a variety of lengths from super mini to midi to maxi length. The super-mini dresses were tight and unforgiving (a trend I may have to sit out) worn with minimal accessories and patent Mary-Janes. A shot of colour was injected in to the Victorian style maxi dress with neon arm warmers.

Take That give us their best Zoolander poses for Marks & Spencer

Not satisfied with simply reviving their singing careers, the lads from Take That have also been put in charge of reviving menswear at Marks & Spencer. It's genius if you think about it... Hire the country's biggest boy band to front your mum's favourite store, it's a sure to be a winner!
Looking rather sharp in the new range of M&S suits (dare I say it, even Gary Barlow is turning my head... who would have thought it?) the boys are doing their best Zoolander 'Blue Steel' impersonations for the campaign which launches this month. What do you make of their modelling debut for M&S?

Victoria Beckham at Roberto Cavalli's Paris store opening

After the bus load of celebrities that showed up for Roberto Cavalli’s New York store opening a few weeks ago, one could almost expect to see another bus load show up for the Roberto Cavalli flagship store opening in Paris. Instead the biggest names to walk down the red carpet were Roberto Cavalli, his wife Eva, Victoria Beckham and Jade Jagger. While the celebrity opening was on last night, the store won’t be open for business just yet.

The IHT reports that the store was not “overwhelmed with the patterns, prints or large furniture that one has come to expect from Cavalli over the years.” And it also features a VIP room on the second floor where the high paying clients will be able to sip on a Cavalli Marabu cocktail. Apparently a seven-story Cavalli store is due to open in 2008 – so perhaps that is why only Victoria and Jade were representing the international celebrity crowd?

Red Carpet Alert: Jennifer Garner's 'The Kingdom' style

How gorgeous does Jennifer Garner want to be? The gal with the biggest smile next to Julia Roberts (with dimples to boot!) has been traipsing around Europe to promote her latest action flick The Kingdom. On Wednesday, Jen was in Paris wearing a figure hugging fuchsia gown by Zac Posen with oversized clutch and shiny curls. The next day, she flew into London for the UK premiere in a gorgeous navy blue dress with black sequin detailing and train. Which look do you prefer?

Get the Look: Copy Jennifer Garner's chic Dolce & Gabbana LBD outfit

Ok, so I'm a little bit in love with Jennifer Garner this week but isn't it obvious why? The actress is winning huge fashion brownie points for her fabulous style including this outfit above. In between strutting her stuff on the red carpet, Garner was snapped around Paris during the week in a cute LBD from Dolce & Gabbana's Resort '08 collection. With a pair of oversized shades, a cream wrap to keep the chill off and shiny black bow platforms, she effortlessly epitomised Parisian chic.

Like what you see? Then keep reading to find out how to copy her look for much less...

How to copy the look for less:

Starting out with a simple LBD may not be as easy as you think, so why not start with Oasis's stretch satin version (£80), which is part of their new LBD collection. Team the dress with some sophisticated heels such as this pair by Salvador Sapena from ASOS.com (£140) and a cream wrap (£18) from Accessorize. Finally, complete the Jen look with some large fly-like sunglasses like this brown pair from Topshop (£16). Hey presto you've been Garner-fied!

Paris Fashion Week: Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney always makes beautiful feminine clothing and despite being heavily pregnant (a mere few months away from giving birth) she still presented her collection at Paris Fashion Week. She wasn't short on family support either, which is something I love about the McCartneys. There to support Stella in Paris was her father Sir Paul, her sister Mary and her brother James. She also got celebrity support from Kanye West and Lily Allen. Her latest collection was shown against a botanical backdrop created by French botanist, Patrick Blanc. There was a vintage feel to her collection which incorporated retro floral prints. See after the jump for more images...

A lot of the items reference lingerie reminiscent of McCartney's early collections. There were barely there camisoles and short white delicate dresses with ruffles and embroidery detailing.

The whole collection seemed to have been designed in consideration of her own post baby stomach (well who wouldn't consider their own needs!) with loose fitting material around the midriff. It was a line that could be worn at a seaside resort such as St Tropez. The printed dresses are very wearable and could be worn on their own with sandals or over jeans for cooler days/evenings.

The Spring/Summer line referenced seventies glamour with wide legged trousers, cut out detail and halter neck tops. She included a few tailored items such as safari jackets and blazers. Accessories included beaded sandals and totes which matched the floral print dresses.
