it just me or is Nicole Kidman's recent fondness for L'Wren Scott starting to grate a little? Of course I *heart* both celebrity and designer, but really... I think it's time to chill out on the LWSF (Little White Scott Frocks) for a little while - I believe its her fifth one yet! Yes, there has been the odd Prada and Dries van Noten number thrown in for a good measure, but it's all been a tad safe for my liking. Here she is at the UK premiere of Australia in Leicester Square, looking darling as always. But oh how I wish she'd take a leaf out of fellow Aussie Cate Blanchett's book, and try something a bit more daring. Yes? [Photos: Rex Features / Source]
The Oscars in 2008 were quite a glittering affair, with simple dresses no where to be seen on the red carpet... here's our round up of trends and fabulous dresses on the red carpet...
While red may have been a hot red carpet colour, black was also out in force thanks to red carpet regulars, though there was enough embellishment and detail to decorate an entire wedding party. Hilary Swank’s one shoulder Versace dress was very pretty, giving the Oscar winning actress a soft feminine appeal. Mum-to-be Nicole Kidman chose a chic simple black dress, but blinged it up with a gorgeous diamond necklace designed by her stylist, L’Wren Scott. Penelope Cruz’s dress ruffled and draped at every curve, emphasizing her slim body before flaring out into a fish tail train. My first thought was 'oh my, could there be too much detail on her small frame?' Meanwhile, Andrea at Shiny Style loved Jennifer Garner’s Oscar de la Renta gown. With it’s seemingly simple bodice, if you look closely it’s all ruched before opening out into a Spanish style ruffled skirt. None of these dresses blew me away, but they are pretty dresses for pretty women.
Word on the street this morning is that Nicole Kidman will make her modelling debut at London Fashion Week for the Antoni & Alison show. Although, don't get too excited the actress isn't expected to appear on the runway, instead she'll feature in a 10 minute long film modelling the 15 or so pieces from the collection, to celebrate the label's 20th anniversary. According to WWD, designers Antoni Burakowski and Alison Roberts made the film themselves in place of a fashion show which screens this morning at the Curzon Cinema in Mayfair. No news yet on what exactly to expect, but some sources are speculating that in the film, the Aussie actress sings "Happy Birthday" to A&A a la' Marilyn Monroe style. As a couple more famous Aussies (Kath & Kim) might say - that's "noice... different... unusual..." [Source]
