It has been said that Hilary Duff is well on her way to building her own empire.

Hilary is introducing a new Design It Yourself fashion crafts line for more than 900 Michael’s stores across North America.

The Design It Yourself fashion accessories will have 40 hip, funky products to help you recreate your old clothes and products.

Hilary said that “My new line of DIY fashion crafts at Michaels under ‘my stuff by Hilary duff’ label allows you to get creative with your style — so you can always wear something new to highlight your own individuality,”.

A Topshop dress, Hilary Duff style

Earlier this month we showed you how to get Hilary Duff’s NBC Today show concert look with a Sonia by Sonia Rykiel dress. Well we’ve spotted one that is sort of similar on sale at Topshop. This black pleated dress with circle appliqué detail at the neck is quite reminiscent of Hilary’s dress, only with a round neckline and minus a belt. It’s a little more flower-child, but outfits are never as fun when they are 100% identical to pieces you’ve coveted on the catwalk or in the pages of a high fashion magazine. Get a similar look to Hilary's by adding gold hoop earrings and bangles, vamp up the eye make up a little and you'll be ready to dance the night away too.

Double take: Hilary Duff and Gretchen Mol

I love it when celebrities get snapped in the same thing which, as we know, happens all the time. However, what I love even more about the photos above is that while both Hilary Duff and Gretchen Mol are wearing the same dress, Gretchen is actually seven months pregnant.

DIY Style with Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff and McCall’s patterns have teamed up to encourage girls and moms to step back from mall-style mass-production and create personalized fashions at home with love. Their new line stuff by hilary duff includes 4 patterns for girls featuring hoodies, blazers, capris and skirts. McCall’s plans to expand the line to include Misses sizes and accessories.

Hilary is using fashion to empower kids in more ways than one. Kids With A Cause is auctioning off some of Hilary’s favorite styles to help children around the world who suffer from poverty, lack of education and health-related issues. Hilary has supported the organization with her time and donations since 1999. This spring, she also showed off her fashion stuff at the GLAAD Media Awards, where she presented the Outstanding Reality Program award to Project Runway.
